What…no Beiber Awards?

Last Friday Night… er… make that last night, MTV unveiled it’s Video Music Award nominees. Katy Perry got the most.

If I’m not mistaken, MTV stopped airing videos sometime back in early 1991.  So that begs the question.  Isn’t this MTV just tooting it’s own horn?  Does anyone actually pay attention to these awards? I think the answer is a pretty obvious “No.”

Video may have killed the radio star, but the iTunes killed the video star.

The show will be broadcast on MTV on Sunday, August 28th at 9 p.m. Viewers can vote online for nominees at vma.mtv.com.  If you’re really interested in it though, here’s the noms:

5. Kevin Eubanks has announced he’s leaving “The Tonight Show” and now NBC has announced his replacement. Rickey Minor is leaving his gig as the musical director for “American Idol” to take over Kevin’s job. He’ll begin on June 7, a few weeks after “Idol” wraps up season nine.

4. Adam Lambert mentored the “American Idol” contestants for Elvis night, and tonight he’s going to perform. But he is under strict orders to behave himself. A source says “Idol” producers don’t want a repeat performance of that stunt Adam pulled at the American Music Awards when he was humping and making out with a guy in his band. So even though they’re confident Adam will be a good boy and stick to the rules, they’re not going to take any chances. They’ve added a 3-second delay to the live show, just in case. Meantime, there’s an online auction at www.IdolGivesBack.com featuring items from the four judges. As of 7:30am CT, a pair of shoes autographed by Ellen DeGeneres plus four tickets to a taping of her talk show was going for $13,951. A chance to meet Simon Cowell during his very last appearance on “Idol” is going for $13,340. And a one-hour private voice lesson with Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi is a bargain at $5300. Bidding runs through April 20.
3. Things have been a little tense on the set of “The Hills” since Heidi Montag refused to do a photo shoot with the rest of cast after her hubby Spencer Pratt was suspended for threatening a crew member. So why was he threatening somebody? Heidi claims she was touched inappropriately by the creator and executive producer of the show, Adam Divello, after she went through all that plastic surgery. Maybe his curiosity got the best of him? A source says Spencer and Heidi are thinking about suing. But Lo Bosworth says it’s a bunch of lies and that no one has ever been assaulted on the show. She says Heidi and Spencer are guilty of slander.

2. MTV is doing a spinoff of “Jersey Shore” called “Wicked Summer.” But instead of New Jersey, they’re taking their cameras to Boston. The casting director says they’re giving Massachusetts the chance to show the world why they’ve got the hottest girls and buffest guys who “believe in God, family, politics, sports, beer and partying!” They’re looking for good-looking, hard-partying, tough-talking, blue collar guys and girls who love muscle cars and hair products. 1. Angelina Pivarnick left “Jersey Shore” after only 3 episodes because she said the cast was mean to her and she wanted to go home to her boyfriend, who ended up dumping her. But even though she claimed the show ruined her life, Angelina is back for season two. However, the rest of the cast literally despise her. They believe the show didn’t take off until after Angelina left anyway and they don’t understand why she’s back. But MTV made the decision and they have no choice but to put up with it. That doesn’t mean they have to be nice to her, though, and they reportedly have been nothing less than cruel. In fact, things were so bad that MTV had to step in and tell the cast to back off.

5. Kris Allen will be back on American Idol next week to help raise money for Haiti. Kris will travel to Haiti with the United Nations Foundation and then share the video of his experience on next Thursday’s show. Viewers will be asked to make donations online or by text and that money will go to the Idol Gives Back Foundation for Haitian relief efforts. And then the actual Idol Gives Back show happens on April 21 where they’ll be raising money for 5 charities, including Feeding America and Malaria No More.

4. The Bachelor finale is March 1 and Jake must choose between two women: Vienna and Tinley. Now Reality Steve told us who Jake’s going to pick, but I won’t repeat it here. But I will tell you what Us Weekly says happened after production on the show ended in November. Yes, it’s been MONTHS since Jake made his choice, so a lot can happen between then and now. And Us says that the moment filming stopped, Vienna rushed to Florida to reunite with BOYFRIEND, Lee Smith. Yes, Vienna had a boyfriend the entire time and only did The Bachelor to become famous. She even told Lee that she’d be coming back for him. But to her surprise, while Vienna was off doing the show, Lee had started dating another woman, waitress Cassie Heaberlin. A source says Vienna was so angry that she walked right into Lee’s house, went into Lee’s bedroom and physically threatened the couple. The source says Lee and Cassie woke up to find Vienna standing at the foot of their bed holding a wine bottle like she was going to hit them with it. But RadarOnline.com has a different version of what’s going on. They are reporting that Lee was arrested for trespassing outside Vienna’s parents’ home shortly before she left to film The Bachelor. And they say that contrary to what Us is reporting, Vienna is not in love with her ex-boyfriend and that it’s HIM, not HER, who is refusing to let go of their relationship.

3. In Touch Weekly says that Kourtney Kardashian has finally ended things with Scott Disick. Yes, the weekend in Vegas was bad, but it’s been even worse than what we saw on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Sources say since Kourtney had baby Mason, Scott’s dropped that whole “attentive boyfriend” routine and is back to being a full-time D-bag. Apparently, Scott’s constantly criticizing Kourtney for not getting rid of the baby weight fast enough for his liking. Scott told her he’s just not attracted to her because she’s fatter than she was when they were dating.

2. Kristin Cavallari was in Miami for the Super Bowl and she was rumored to be going around to everyone asking if they had any cocaine. No comment from MTV and Kristin’s lawyer says it’s not true… but based on Brooke Mueller’s attorney, we’ve learned that celebrity lawyers will flat-out lie to protect a client. A source told Us Magazine that Krisitn’s issues are becoming apparent to everyone because she’s getting scary-thin and not showering regularly. Reportedly, her castmates on The Hills — Brody, Audrina, Lo and Stephanie — have all been urging her to go to rehab, but Kristin doesn’t think she has a problem.

1. Tiger Woods will make a public apology tomorrow morning. He will hold a press conference at the PGA Tour headquarters, where he will read a prepared statement. This is not an open media event. Instead, only a small group of reporters are being hand-picked to be there and they will not be allowed to ask any questions. His agent says Tiger will be surrounded by a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates, but there’s no word if his wife Elin will be by his side. But RadarOnline.com is reporting that the two of them had dinner together Tuesday night. A source says she’s still not wearing her wedding ring and they’re still living separately, but dinner together was a HUGE development. After dinner, Tiger and Elin went their separate ways, but the next day, Elin was photographed near Tiger’s house carrying two cups of coffee…

5. Paramedics were called to an apartment on the West Side of Manhattan last night. It’s believed that the girl who called 911 was Ireland Baldwin — Alec Baldwin’s 14-year-old daughter who freaked out when her dad was unresponsive. Alec was taken to the hospital where he was examined for about an hour and then released. His condition is not known.

4. Pauly D has been hired by the Palms Casino Resort in Vegas to be their in-house DJ this spring. He should rap up before he has to report for duty with the rest of his “Jersey Shore” castmates in Miami, where season two begins taping in May. Like all the Jersey kids, Pauly’s being offered all sorts of money to show up at different clubs and events. But one of the craziest offers Pauly got was $50K to walk a bride down the aisle! His rep turned it down because Pauly is a serious DJ.

3. Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are both disputing the story going around on the internet that when they were together, Samantha was physically abusive. Lindsay tweeted, “Samantha R never raised a hand to me, I’ve never said she did. Enough is Enough…” Samantha responded with her own Tweet to Lindsay, saying, “THANK you for clearing that up. The high road was giving me a nose bleed! To ANYONE who perpetuates this rumor accusing me of being violently abusive after Lindsay Lohan has denied it: I WILL take legal action. Sorry to sound so stern – but that sort of s**t is not cool.”

2. The stripper who claims she had an affair with Josh Duhamel while he was filming a movie in Atlanta now says she is three months pregnant! And Nicole Forrester says she is “95 percent certain” that Josh is the baby daddy! Nicole says she hasn’t decided what she’s going to do. Interesting to note that when Nicole sold her original story to the “Enquirer,” she said that she and Josh used protection.

1. Who knew John Mayer was the type to kiss and tell? In the new issue of “Playboy” magazine, John claims that sex with Jessica Simpson was as addictive as crack cocaine. He added,  “And drugs aren’t good for you if you do lots of them…It was like napalm, sexual napalm.” He wasn’t so graphic when he described his relationship with Jennifer Aniston — perhaps because there’s a level of respect there. But last night during a concert in Nashville, apparently all of this stuff got to John and during the middle of “Gravity,” he stopped playing and apologized to the guys in his band. He said, “In the quest to be clever, I completely forgot about the people that I love and that love me.”  He then went on to say that he shouldn’t have spent so much time trying to be witty and “I should’ve just given that up and played the guitar. I didn’t. So I decided I would try to be as clever as possible all the time, and I did that at the expense of people that I love and that feels absolutely terrible.” He got real choked up and said, “It’s just not worth being clever. I quit the media game. I’m out. I’m done I just want to play my guitar.” And then he thanked his band and after a long pause, he started playing his guitar solo.

Beyonce Knowles has a brother? She does If you believe a girl names Alexsandra Wright. Alexsandra gave birth lat week to a baby boy and is claiming Mathew Knowles is the father. She filed a paternity suit all the way back in October and is now telling her story about their 18 month affair. This woman only claim to fame before this was an appearance on Scrubs and she says that Beyonce’s father even picked out the name for the baby (Nixon). So far, Alexsandra hasn’t gotten a penny from Mathew and she is seeking a paternity test. Mathew has revealed that he is going to take one to prove that it’s not his!

Sorry guys, Snooki is off the market. She has been saying she was looking for love and it seems that she’s found it! Just a week or so ago, the Jersey Shore star started dating 21-year-old Emilio Masella, a personal trainer at the Gold’s Gym in New Haven. He says that they’ve known each other for over a year and they met under the most romantic circumstances…Facebook! He says they are a perfect fit because they have a lot in common and they have similar features. Despite all the fame and flashbulbs that surround Snooki, Masella says he likes her for who she is — not the character portrayed on the MTV reality show. How does Snookie describe her man? She says, “He is actually a body builder and works at the gym. He is just like my typical guido juicehead with, like a good personality.”

Oh the life of Lil Wayne. He was set to start his 1-year jail sentence yesterday but it looks like he’s a free man, for now. Apparently he has some serious dental surgery lined up and the judge has granted him permission to get that taken care of and to report to prison on March 2. Since Weezy thought he was headed to prison after the weekend, he lived it up to the extreme. He shot 9 music videos in 48 hours, threw a huge party in Miami after the Superbowl, and spent his last hours broadcasting to his fans via Ustream, telling them he loves them. Surely he will attend NBA All-Star Weekend now that he’s free!

5. Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie was in Haiti yesterday and visited the Doctors Without Borders Hospital in Port-au-Prince. The day before, she was in the Dominican Republic, visiting with Haitian children who were moved there to receive medical treatment after the earthquake hit on January 12. Perhaps she wanted to see where her money was being spent. She and Brad Pitt donated a million dollars to help with the rescue efforts in Haiti.

4. Sources say it’s a done deal — “Jersey Shore” will be in Miami for season two. MTV has already rented a house off Lincoln Road and they’re in the process of remodeling it. The cast will head down in May to begin filming. No word on whether the duck phone will be joining them.

3. Tiger’s main mistress has a new gig. “Extra” reportedly has hired Rachel Uchitel to be a special correspondent, focusing on nightlife in the hottest clubs. When Rachel was interviewed by host Mario Lopez recently, Rachel apparently impressed the producers so much that they offered her a job.

2. Lil Wayne was supposed to begin his year on Rikers Island yesterday, but his sentencing has been rescheduled for March 2. Lil Wayne needs dental surgery, so the judge is going to let him take care of that first before he checks in to serve a year in prison for carrying a loaded gun on his tour bus. If he behaves himself, he could get out after 8 months.

1. Lady Gaga’s friends are worried about her. Gaga has lost a good bit of weight — about 20 pounds — after the guy who played her love interest in the “Paparazzi” video let it be known that he was less than enthusiastic about having to kiss her during the shoot. He never said anything to her face, but Alexander Skarsgard made comments under his breath to the crew and made some weird faces that were pretty obvious that he wasn’t digging him some Gaga. A friend of hers said, “She’s already lost about 20 pounds. She says she’s always hungry. She’s not doing a specific diet. She just isn’t eating.”

5. They’re remaking “A Star Is Born” and as of now, Russell Crowe and Beyonce have been named the frontrunners for the lead roles. Robert Downey Jr. was attached to the male lead at one point, but that no longer seems to be the case. The movie was originally done in the 1930s, and then was remade in 1957 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and then done again in 1976 with Barbra Steisand and Kris Kristofferson. The story is about an aging, alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with a young female star.

4. Miley Cyrus has rallied some of her celebrity friends for an all-star online auction to benefit the people of Haiti. Starting today, you can go to eBay.com to bid on the Herve Leger dress Miley wore to the Grammys, as well as 2 tickets to the Hollywood premiere of her movie, “The Last Song.” Nicole Richie has also donated some jewelry from her House of Harlow line and Britney Spears is offering up the custom silver Versace minidress she wore to the 2008 VMAs. There’s also stuff on there donated by Demi Lovato and Hugh Jackman and Joel Madden. All the proceeds will go to American Red Cross to support relief efforts in Haiti.

3. JWoww is proud of her fake boobies. In fact, she wants to be even prouder, so she’s planning on making them bigger. On Friday, JWoww was seen visiting the Long Island offices of a plastic surgeon who just so happens to be a breast specialist. A source says she wants to get them done in time for the second season of “Jersey Shore.”

2. MTV is cracking down on their “Jersey Shore” cast. The guidos and guidettes have been doing as many appearances as they can, earning up to $7500 a night showing up anywhere for anybody who’s willing to pay. But now MTV is telling them to pull back on the appearances or face strict fines or maybe even legal action. A source says MTV told the cast that they were allowed to do only 2 personal appearances a week and that all of their gigs had to be approved by producers. But some of them don’t care and are just going out there and taking as much cash as they can.

1. Of course the big news this weekend was the Super Bowl in Miami, and the celebrities turned out in force to watch the Saints beat the Colts, 31-17. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie brought oldest son Maddox to the game to cheer on the Saints. They were escorted into the game on a golf cart surrounded by security. And in the suite, Brad and Angelina were looking quite lovey-dovey, for those of us who are convinced their relationship is on the rocks. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes brought along little Suri. They skipped the golf cart and security detail and entered the game just like other ticket holders. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher also opted not to have security, but may have wished they had after some paparazzi chased them into the stadium. Also spotted in a suite was John Travolta, who was seen leaving before the Saints made their game-winning comeback. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony hung out in their suite. Also spotted in the suites and in the stands were Taylor Lautner, LL Cool J, Spike Lee, Jamie Foxx, Hilary Swank and Harry Connick Jr.

5. Behind the scenes drama on MTV’s “Teen Mom.” Farrah Abraham is one of the teen moms featured on the show. She and her mom Debra Danielson got into a fight last Saturday. According to the police report, the two were arguing in the kitchen over child care issues and other problems when Debra threw an MTV t-shirt at her daughter. It ended up landing near or on Farrah’s baby, who woke up crying. From that point, things escalated fast. Farrah started yelling at her mom about throwing the shirt, and Debra grabbed Farrah by the throat. Farrah pushed her mom away and that’s when Debra hit her on the side of her head and in the mouth. Debra was arrested for domestic abuse, serious assault. She was released on her own recognizance.

4. There is a nationwide casting call for movie extras for the upcoming “Twilight” movie “Breaking Dawn.” You don’t have to have any experience and it’s free to register. Plus, I went to the website and it says there is pay involved. How much? I have no idea. Got to www.talenthunter.com. The deadline for “Breaking Dawn” casting is January 31, but there are lots of other shows and movies and bands and things like that on there you can audition for. I just searched real quick on there and there were auditions for QVC hosts and rappers and drummers, as well opportunities to be an extra on movies or contestants on game shows.

3. Some paparazzi were snapping away at Lindsay Lohan and her mom Dina as they headed into a Golden Globes pre-party, and it was hard to miss the fresh cut on Lindsay’s arm. A source says Lindsay has been cutting herself since last year and wonders why Dina is out partying with her daughter when she so obviously needs help.

Tiger Woods reportedly is receiving in-patient treatment at Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and the clinic is taking extra precautions to protect his privacy. They’ve lined the wooden fence surrounding the property with a black tarp to prevent anybody from peeking through the slats. Tiger lives in a cottage on the property, so they’ve also built a walkway from the inner yard where the cottages are located to a side door of the main building. Then they lined the walkway with wood so you can’t see who’s passing through. Tiger is living without a roomate — at his request — during his six weeks of therapy. And after Tiger is rehabbed, he reportedly will be ready to get back to work. RadarOnline.com is reporting that Tiger will return to the PGA tour this spring. The Masters begins April 5, but it’s not know if he’ll be ready for that high-profile tournament, which Tiger has won four times.

1. Jay Leno told his side of the story on his show last night. Jay explained that in 2004, NBC was nervous about losing Conan O’Brien to a rival network, so they told Conan they’d give him “The Tonight Show” in 2009 to keep him around. Jay said at the time, “Well, I’ve been number one for 12 years, and they said, ‘We know that, but we don’t think you can sustain that.’ I said, ‘Okay, how about wait until I fall to number two, then you fire me?’ ‘No, we made this decision.’ I said, ‘That’s fine.’” Jay said he tried to avoid another public fallout like what happened with him and David Letterman. So he told Conan he’d just retire when Conan took over. but then Jay said when his run at “The Tonight Show” was coming to a close and he asked to be released frmo the network, they suggested he do a primetime show. Jay liked the idea of keeping his staff employed, so he agreed. Jay says when the primetime show was canceled, he asked again to be released from NBC, but the network told him he was still valuable to them and that’s when they floated the idea of a 30 minute program that would start after local news. Jay said NBC told him that Conan would be cool with that arrangement and that was good enough for him. But obviously, Conan wasn’t cool with it and when he refused to move with the show to a later time slot, NBC offered jay the show back and he took it. Jay says, “Through all of this, Conan O’Brien has been a gentleman. He’s a good guy. I have no animosity towards him. This is all business…” Now we hear Conan’s been offered an exit package worth $32.5 million.

Apparently the producers of the Real World think I look like this.  Ehh, who needs ‘em.
