Conan O’Brien’s first interview since his show was taken from him is airing this Sunday on 60 minutes and he was careful with his words about Jay Leno. Conan says that if he had surrendered the show, handed it over to someone publicly and even wished them well, he would have made a different decision. He says he never would have taken a show back from someone else. When the reporter asked him if Jay acted less than honorable, Conan said he couldn’t answer that. As for why he left NBC he says, “I think this relationship is going be toxic and maybe we just need to go our separate ways. That’s really how it felt to me…and I started to feel that I’m not sure these people even really want me here….I can’t do it anymore.”

Hopefully this is just a rumor because it’s disturbing! Sources close to the late Brittany Murphy are claiming that not only is Simon Monjack still living with her mother, Sharon, but their relationship is turning romantic. As if that’s not bad enough, the pair are supposedly shopping around a tell-all book about Brittany’s life because they need the money. Fortunately no publishers want to get involved with that. A source says, ”Sadly, unless that book reveals some pretty salacious stuff — which I doubt they have, except for eating-disorder and prescription-drug stuff — it’s not enough to sell many books.”

Samantha Ronson has had it with Lindsay Lohan. The two were both at Timbaland’s birthday party at Drai’s in Hollywood when they broke into a Twitter fight.

Sam says, “One more thing- if you’re gonna be an idiot an do coke- do it outside the bathroom- some of us actually use them to pee in.”

Lindsay responded, “I’m pretty sure that @samantharonson just threw a fit @33years old and my friend tal @draishollywood illegally open NOW at this hour, Asked me, after being here jus for Timbalands birthday-to leave even though she stayed over just 2nights ago-tired of @samantharonson.”

We know what Conan O’Brien is planning to do in the next couple of months. He has just announced a 30-city comedy tour called, “The Legally Prohibited From Being On Television Tour”. Being the incredibly generous guy that he is, he isn’t getting paid to do it! The only reason he’s doing the tour is to keep all of his Tonight Show staffers employed! Every bit of the money the tour makes from tickets and merchandise are going to his staff-AND they are going on the road with him! This shouldn’t have been that hard to do for free considering he received at 32.5 million dollar severance from NBC. Conan is taking 40 people on the road but has warned fans to prepare themselves for the tour being half a**ed/half effort.

Jessica Simpson’s new man has stood up for her and is now giving his thoughts on John Mayer. Billy Corgan told Rolling Stone that what Mayer is doing is a not-so-subtle attempt to blow up his career. Billy says that he knows from personal experience what sabotaging your own career is like. He says, “Rather than take a year off or change his musical direction, some part of it is irritating his soul to the point where he’s trying to blow it up. Certainly a talented guy, but empathetically, standing on the sidelines, it’s hard to watch someone literally burn their career to the ground speaking as somebody who’s done it.”

Ladies, if you can’t get enough of Robert Pattinson you can sleep easy now. He has revealed that acting isn’t his only talent and he is releasing an album later this year. He says that after seeing all of his friends record albums he is very annoyed because he can play the guitar and the piano in addition to singing. He just can’t find the time to get in the studio. He admire J-LO for being able to sing and act!

Wondering what Conan O’Brien has been up to since leaving his post at NBC? According to him, Twitter is his only gig. He made a new account yesterday and within 4 hours had over 100 thousand followers. His bio says, “First I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account. His first tweet? “Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me”. He has also created an account for the squirrel that he interviewed!

More drama between judges on the Idol set last night. If you remember the original seating had Ellen next to Simon Cowell, but last night she was seated at the opposite end of the table. Ryan tried to play it off as as a joke asking why she moved. Ellen had a pre-prepared video of Simon sitting next to her rubbing her leg. They passed it off as Simon was getting too friendly with his hands. Producers say that they just love to mix things up all the time.

bffs?
Tiger’s biggest supporter? Chris Brown. The R&B star told the Mojo In The Morning radio show “nobody has the right to place judgment or make any judgment on somebody else’s personal life when they’re not directly involved with them. Then Chris drew parallels between himself and Woods. “I think, even with me, like I do music, I sing songs, like I’m an entertainer, I’m a performer, but people make mistakes. So my hat is off to him — I support him, I hope he gets back on the field and does his thing, cause he is the best at it.

Hope you’re not tired of Conan O’Brien, because it doesn’t look like he is going to be unemployed for long.  Conan and FOX could make agreements as early as this week about his future on the network. A FOX insider told the New York Post that chances like this don’t come around often and now’s the time to get him. Fox’s entertainment president Peter Reilly called Conan “one of the few guys on the planet who has demonstrated he can do one of these shows every night”. O’Brien’s settlement with the NBC enables him to return to work as early as the fall. FOX has never been successful with the late-night talk show. They tried Chevy Chase and Joan Rivers but both were cancelled within a year of their debut.

We talked about this before and no one believed it. John Mayer and Taylor Swift would never date each other…or would they? Well John is supposedly in Nashville filming CMT Crossroads with Keith Urban and has been spotted hanging with T. Swift. They were seen at a local bar called Cabana in Sunday having dinner with a few others but they were seated next to each other. Sources say this is just the latest in a series of dinner “dates” the two have been spotted at recently.

alg_jersey_shore_mtvThe Jersey Shore cast may be playing hardball with their contracts but this is what they used to make. Most of them will make more in one season than in a year at their old jobs.

  • Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi was working as a receptionist for $13 an hour until she gave up job to make personal appearances.
  • The Situation-Mike Sorrentino is the assistant manager of a gym in Staten Island at 35,000 a year.
  • DJ Pauly D Delvecchio is a real DJ working clubs mostly in Rhode Island.
  • Jenni “JWoww” Farley is an aspiring fashion and Internet designer that hasn’t made much profit yet.
  • Ronnie Magro: He never revealed what exactly he does but he wants to open his own tanning salon.
  • Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola: Sammi is a former college student who wants to be a fashion designer.
  • Vinny Guadagnino: Vinny lives at home with parents and wants to apply to law school.
  • Angelina “Jolie” Pivarnick: Angelina is a bartender in New York.

The cast is looking at $120,000 per person to shoot for one month this summer.

I’ll go right out and say starting September 1st, we’re going to see Conan O’ Brien’s new late night show on Fox.

It’s not going to be as big as tonight’s finale for Conan, because it seems like everyone, including their mother and her pet hamster are planning on watching tonight.  I’ve even talked to people who don’t watch TV at all, and they’re planning on watching.

I think no matter how you look at it, Conan was given the short end of the stick in this deal, and any jabs at NBC are deserving.  Its understood that NBC mostly made the decision to pull Conan off, because of the bad ratings.  That’s just how the business goes.  The method is what is killing everyone.

I’d bet we’ll see a ratings jump for Conan on Fox, then they’ll drop off once again.  That’s just how the business goes.  Fox will be a more suitable home for him, because they really don’t have any competition in late night and while still considered a second-class network, this may improve their status.

We can be glad for one thing.  Pee Wee Herman came on the show last night to explain how all this happened.

Conan O’Brien is officially leaving “The Tonight Show” but he’ll be getting a $32.5 million consolation prize from NBC. With this deal, Conan has a non-compete agreement that lasts until September of 2010. He will not be allowed to host any other kind of show until then. In addition to this, NBC is paying Conan’s staff who all had to move to LA just a few months ago. It’s not just the show NBC is taking away from Conan, it’s also his ideas! NBC us using their intellectual property rights and forbidding Conan to take his out creations like Triumph the Insult Comic Dog with him.

simpsoncorgan_281Even though it appears that Jessica Simpson is dating Billy Corgan, a source close to her says that they are not officially dating. The friends says that, “Jessica loved spending so much time in and out of the studio with Billy because she’s in awe of his musical prowess, and it adds to her feelings for him, but they are not dating.” A mutual producer friend introduced the two of them and while Billy did try to spend time with Jess outside of their collaboration efforts, he figured it just wouldn’t work out because of how public her life is. He likes her and they are just having fun but he doesn’t anything serious with her. Friends of Jess are saying he’s a positive influence because she has become less high maintenance. No Makeup and a less strict workout schedule. Not sure if this is a positive thing!

Are the Killers done?! The group is finishing up their tour in Melbourne Australia and has said that they need a break. They say that they feel like they’ve been touring for 6 straight years and are tired of being together all the time. Some are speculating that the band is actually done for good. This announcement of a break has come just a month after rumors that lead singer Brandon Flowers was leaving to pursue a solo career.

conan

As of press time, we’re still waiting for an announcement that Conan O’Brien will be leaving The Tonight Show and NBC.

I say this with a heavy heart, because I’ve always been a Conan fan, and I’m wondering WTF?

From the media reports, it looks like Conan is going to take a $40 million dollar payout for saying goodbye. I guess if there were a price to be paid for leaving your dream job, $40 million is close to it. It looks like the delay with the announcement is from Conan’s demand for a payout for his entire staff too. That’s pretty stand up.

I have a good feeling that Conan will bounce back with a show on another network, but that doesn’t excuse the way he’s being treated. If the ratings were that bad, why not just say “the ratings are bad and that’s why Conan is out.” Instead, this drama seems to be painting Jay Leno and NBC in a bad light.

They say any publicity is good publicity, but I don’t think that may be true in this case. I think this has been around long enough that there is a resentment building up from folks who think O’Brien is getting screwed.

I could be wrong. This all may blow over in a month’s time or so. We seem to have an attention span that lasts about as long as it takes to drink a beer on Badger game day….

Wait…what were we talking about again?

oh boy.At least they didn’t dump you on Valentine’s Day, right Jay?  Jimmy Fallon would be right in his assessment of these guys as Idiot Boyfriends.

Tim Leary suggested we turn on, tune in and drop out. How about I just tune in or tune out some TV shows this week?

I’m not sure what makes me want to tune out quicker? That goofy debacle over the NBC late night slot, American Idol (which starts tomorrow night), or a lame-o sketch on Saturday Night Live.

I don’t mean to rake NBC over the coals, but this seems kind of backhanded to yank Conan out of his place. (Especially since I’m a fan.) You can’t give him The Tonight Show and then put it on later. Not cool!

Here we go again for another American Idol season too. I’ve been wishing since season 3 that this show would fade off into the sunset. It’s just not my thing, but oh well, here we go again.

What makes me want to tune in once again is Saturday Night Live. I haven’t seen a really good show from them until I tuned in Charles Barkely show on Saturday. He’s a big doofus and they know how to make him funny. Huzzah SNL, I’ll stop taking jabs at NBC if you keep the funny up.

Here’s one of the better sketches from the weekend:

Last night Conan O’Brien gave up why there was a repeat on Friday night’s show…

I knew Conan was tall, but 6′4″! Holy schnikes. He’s lucky that low flying aircraft don’t clip him. He’s lucky that the last solar eclipse isn’t catch is forehead. He could probably give fellow giant Shaquille O’Neal a run for his money in a dunking contest.

In any case, we’re glad you’ve recovered from the concussion Conan. When is Triumph the COmic Insult dog on next?
