It’s a rather ominous day in music history – one year to the day that Michael Jackson died.

We’ll be playing some songs in tribute today on 105-1 Charlie FM, and it looks like we’re going to hear more.

Here’s a list of the tributes that are planned so far:

  • MTV- On Friday at 4 p.m. You can check out a video countdown, which includes a special top 10 from The King Of Pop. It doesn’t stop there, at 5:30 another special will be shown. This time it will have famous celebrities discussing what Michael meant to them, and how he was such an inspiration.
  • CNN- At 7:00 p.m. A special show titled “Michael Jackson, The Final Days” will premiere. Then stay tuned for a special tribute from Larry King, which will be shown at 8:00 p.m.
  • ABC 20/20- On Friday at 8:00 p.m. Check out the 2 hour special that will melt your hearts. It will be with Jackson’s kids, and how they are handling the death of their father.
  • BET- All day Friday June 25, 2010 enjoy cool tributes, and the history of the pop icon. Then at 7:00 p.m. Tune in for a interesting interview with Michael and his family.

  1. After his death, Jackson became the best-selling artist of 2009 in the United States selling over 8.2 million albums and 35 million albums worldwide. Following this surge in sales, Sony announced that they had extended their relationship with his material. The distribution rights held by Sony Music were due to expire in 2015. On March 16, 2010, Sony Music Entertainment, in a move spearheaded by its Columbia/Epic Label Group division, signed a new deal with the Jackson estate to extend their distribution rights to his back catalogue until at least 2017, as well as to obtain permission to release ten new albums with previously unreleased material and new collections of released work.
