Seriously. Political candidates dream of have favorability ratings in the 60% range.

A polling firm just returned some numbers that show Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the highest public popularity rating of any person ever recorded in Wisconsin.  89% have a favorable opinion of him.

Maybe, stick with the Pack for another 10 years and then give it a shot.

I think Steve Jobs this week reminded us that we need to pursue what makes us happy.

This guy is merging two of his favorites and I’m sure he’s a happy Brewers Fan today.

Here’s the story of Tom Markn from jsonline.com today:

The Wauwatosa man, an insurance worker by day, has penned a haiku after every Brewers game for more than two seasons now. Sometimes more than one per game. It’s surprising he hasn’t popped a haiku hernia by now.

“Game in and game out, I’ve worked tirelessly to supply the as-yet-unrealized demand for Brewer game recaps in 17 carefully placed syllables,” he tells me.

You can follow Tom on Twitter @brew_haiku, and he wishes more people would. With Axford-ian efficiency, he distills each contest down to its nub, its essence, its deeper meaning, its cosmic relevance, so long as it fits into three phrases of five, seven and five syllables, in that order.

You go for it buddy. While the Brewers have not adopted him as the team’s official poet laureate, there’s always a chance. Here’s some examples of his haikus:

That was one heckuva Wisconsin Sports weekend.   On an unscientific poll we put on our Facebook page this morning, we asked which Wisconsin victory was the best?

While it was a neck and neck tie for the Badgers & the Brewers, those bat swinging boys from Brew-Town won out.

A tough choice, kind of like picking your favorite child.

Speaking of children, remember this 1992 McDonald’s commercial featuring Cecil Fielder and none other than a young Prince Fielder, throwing some serious heat at his old man?

Here Prince is showing off “The Beast”

Me. Not so much.

I ‘m more the type of guy who just likes watching games for the fun of it. I also like crunching numbers too.

Now that the Milwaukee Brewers are on the cusp of clenching the National League Central Division title, I’m ready for the excitement.

Good luck to the boys in blue.  Here’s a little something to keep my fellow Brewers fans revved up.

Hopefully you’ve got the word by now that it could be a mess in downtown Madison tomorrow afternoon.

There are around 4,500 UW Campus parking spaces that Badger football fans rent out. There will be around 80,000 Badger football fans trying to get to their seats at Camp Randall. The thing is, the UW employees will still be in those parking spaces until their work day is over.

It’s gonna be a tight fit.

Here’s the lowdown on traffic:

Downtown workers are being asked to leave those spots that fans rent during game time by 5pm.

Fans are being asked not to start showing up to tailgate until after 5pm.

The DOT says there won’t be any lane closures on the interstate, but that there is the potential for heavy backups.

Highway service teams will be on-call in the I-94 work zone and on the Madison Beltline to assist stranded motorists and respond to incidents on Badger game days.

My suggestions:

Take one of the local bar’s shuttle buses

Bike in

Park far, far away and walk in

Have a friend drop you off. After the game, take a shuttle bus to bar near you, then cab it home.

Also, bosses at the UW should give their employees a half-day off. Everybody wins!

I don’t buy it.  Not one bit.

There may be such a thing as the Sports Illustrated cover jinx, but the numbers don’t exactly pan out.  Three Brewers; Ryan Braun, Nyger Morgan and Prince Fielder appear on the cover that comes out this week.  Rightly so.  The Crew are kicking some major (league) butt.

Here’s a great summary from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this morning:

“Of the 2,456 covers SI had run, 913 featured a person who, or team that, suffered some verifiable misfortune that conformed to our definition – a Jinx rate of 37.2%.

There was also this:

“When Eddie Mathews appeared on the cover of the first issue of SI, dated Aug. 16, 1954, he and the Milwaukee Braves were on a nine-game winning streak. They lost their next game, on Aug. 17, and a week later a pitch struck Mathews on the hand, causing an injury that forced him to miss seven games. Thus began the legend of the SI Jinx.”

I choose not to acknowledge the latter statement. Go Crew!

OK, if you’re not officially on the Milwaukee Brewers bandwagon, this is your official invitation.

There are so many ways to love the our home team today.

  • They beat the Cardinals 5-1 last night.
  • They’ve won a season-best five consecutive games on the road.
  • It was their 13th win out of 14 games.
  • They’re five games ahead in the National League Central.
  • They also go for a sweep of the Cardinals tonight.

Do you need more?

How about a guy they should consider for the team once he makes it out of the minors?
