In this week’s most unusual convergence of food and music, Adam Horovitz, better known as Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys, popped up on Bravo’s cooking competition show Top Chef: Just Desserts.

The subject for the day was to be a special Beastie Boys-themed food contest. A huge cart was promptly wheeled out containing foods mentioned in the lyrics of Beastie Boys songs, including bacon, pork and beans, ravioli, popcorn and, of course, matzo balls.

Now that’s a sure shot of root down.

Sad news in the world of weird news that I like.

Heidi The Cross Eyed Possum hadn’t been feeling good for the past few weeks. The The Leipzig zoo in Berlin said today that the marsupial had been listless and unable to move for several weeks. A decision was made to put the 3 1/2-year-old animal to sleep following repeated attempts to treat her.

Her Facebook page attracted more than 332,000 admirers from across the globe, including me.

This can be described as nothing less than epic.

This week is Pink Floyd week on Late Night Jimmy Fallon. Last night he had surviving member Roger Waters accompanied by the Foo Fighters perform a rockin version of  “In The Flesh” from The Wall.

Note the headbanging Dave Grohl.

The new batch of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees are out.

Three female-fronted bands received their first nominations with Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Rufus. No surprise are the inclusions of Guns ‘N Roses, The Cure and Eric B. & Rakim. If Eric B. & Rakim were to make the Hall of Fame, they would be only the third hip-hop act, right behind Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Run-D.M.C.

Other new nominees included Freddie King, The Spinners and The Small Faces, later known simply as The Faces when Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart joined the disbanded group.

Being nominated once again are Beastie Boys, Donovan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, War, Donna Summer and Laura Nyro.

An artist can only be nominated for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after their first album or single is released. These choices were made by 40 critics and music experts from the nominating committee, who now send ballots to 500 critics that will vote on who should be added to the Hall of Fame. The hall will induct at least five of the artists that will be announced in November.

The 26th Hall of Fame induction ceremony will occur on April 14 at the Cleveland Convention Center.

If there’s one thing you should do on this mucky, rainy excuse for Monday, it should be heading to my Facebook page today and like me.

That’s because all of our Facebook Fans are in the drawing for a pair of tickets to see Lewis Black at the Overture Center on October 8th.

The man likes to tell it like it is and quite often he’ll send you into a laugh fit bordering on choking on your own rage. Check out his latest appearance on The Daily Show.

Here’s the thing.

I can separate annoying qualities from physical qualities in a person.  I don’t know.  It’s a gift I’ve always had.

That’s why I’m not annoyed that Kim Kardashian has been named the most annoying celebrity out there.

According to a new Parade Magazine poll:

The winner was newlywed Kim Kardashian, with 29 percent of the vote, just edging out Charlie Sheen, who earned 27 percent.  Rounding out the top five were “Jersey Shore’s” Snooki, Donald Trump and Brad “The Bachelor” Womack.

Is Kardashian annoying?  Sure she it.  Is she still good looking? Oh yeah.

Would I hate if we hung out?  Not at all, as long as I can keep my earbud headphones in at all times, listening to the radio.
