They announced this week that all of the Star Wars films are going to be remade in 3D.

Other than lining George Lucas’ pockets once again, it will introduce the movies to a whole new generation. I think there has to be more to it though.  Lets look at the pros and cons of seeing Star Wars in 3D.

CONS

  1. Jabba The Hut will be even grosser in your face.
  2. We have to witness Jar Jar Binks on screen again.
  3. We have to suffer through each the prequels (starting in 2012) before seeing the good ones.
  4. Some say you lose a bit of color vividness with 3D.  Maybe that means the Ewoks will fade into the background. (Also a potential pro)
  5. Luke Skywalker’s hand being chopped off may be extra traumatic if it goes flying in your face.

PROS

  1. Princess Leia’s metal slave suit in 3D.
  2. The Death Star is really gonna blow up in your face.
  3. Princess Leia’s metal slave suit in 3D.
  4. Yoda may actually levitate audience members watching the movie.
  5. Princess Leia’s metal slave suit in 3D.

Oh that’s right…it’s the Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival in Madison this weekend.  Lets get as many Madison pot jokes I can think of :

  • – I hear there will be high concentrations of THC (totally high & chillin) people in attendance.
  • I like to call it the “How Is It That Dreadlocked Dude Is Even Standing Up Festival.”
  • Bob Marley would even call them a bunch of stoners.
  • Don’t worry, if you see people having conversations with the potted plants on the State Street sidewalk, that’s normal.
  • Burrito sales on the UW Library mall are expected to increase 9,867,092,985% this weekend.
  • There will be enough tie-dye in Madison this weekend to blind the sun.
  • Cheech & Chong were invited, but they used their invitation as rolling paper.
  • The honorable “Big Lebowski” march will start promptly at 12:00pm…or 12:30…or 3:30pm.  Just quit hassling me man!
  • Um….what was I talking about?

With President Obama in Madison, the chance of actually being able to ask the Commander In Chief a question goes up exponentially.

If you really think about it though, what would you ask the President if you had the chance?

You could do something dumb...High five him and ask him if he likes being president.
You could do something brainy…Ask him about how the we’re going to turn the economy around.
You could do something crazy...ask him about purple banana Labrador footballs.

I might actually ask him about music.  I think the kind of music you listen to says a lot about yourself.  In the new issue of Rolling Stone, President Barack Obama says his taste in music still tilts toward the classics of his childhood.

He says with the help of his younger aides – and his daughters, his collection is becoming a bit more hip.

Obama says his iPod has about 2,000 songs, including ones by Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. Obama also says his daughters, 12-year-old Malia and 9-year-old Sasha, are getting old enough to start sharing their taste in music with their dad.

The president says music is a great source of joy and solace in the midst of difficult days.

It could be a blaze of glory for Bon Jovi at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Jersey boys are up for possible induction in the hallowed hall, along with first-timers Donovan, Dr. John, Alice Cooper and Neil Diamond.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame released its list of nominees this morning. There were some familiar names: Darlene Love, LL Cool J, Donna Summer and the Beastie Boys have been up for the prestigious honor before. Other previous nominees include the J. Geils Band; Tom Waits; Chuck Willis; Chic and Joe Tex.

To be eligible for the hall, an act must have released its first batch of music at least 25 years ago. Inductees will be revealed in December, and the ceremony will be in March in New York City.

This show has everything…drama, travel, crazy family relationships, and a guy who hosts with an accent I can’t seem to figure out.  I could WIN this, I know it, but I can’t do it alone.  Think you have what it takes?

Get out your dancing shoes, tonight’s Dancing with the Stars hopes to bring it big tonight.  I’ve got the inside scoop on who will be dancing what, and which tune they’ll use:

–Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke — “Tush” (jive)
– Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas — “Suddenly I See” (quickstep)
– Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy — “Magic” (jive)
– Michael Bolton and Chelsie Hightower — “Hound Dog” (quickstep)
– Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani — “Love Machine” (quickstep)
– Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough — “Shake It” (jive)
– Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel — “Dreaming” (jive)
– Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer– “I Want You To” (quickstep)
– Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya — “Danger Zone” (jive)
– Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas — “You Can’t Hurry Love” (quickstep)
– The Situation and Karina Smirnoff — “We No Speak Americano” (quickstep)

Makes me curious
: Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel — “Dreaming” (jive)…to make a joke this week or not to make a joke?

Makes me worry for them
: Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough — “Shake It” (jive)…I’m predicting there will be an enormous lack of rhythm here.  Sad :(

Hats off to The Situation’s song choice.  I thought Bristol Palin was the only one trying to tell a story through the music with last week’s “Mama Told Me (Not to Come”.
