Tonight the new season of Locked Up Abroad begins airing on National Geographic Channel, and you should be there, but beware, once you start watching you may never be able to quit.  I find myself channel surfing and landing on it.  All the sudden I look at the clock and it’s 3 hours later, no joke. I was too busy seeing how some girl and her boyfriend tried to smuggle hashish out of statues in Bali to eat or notice the sun go down.

It’s sort of Rescue 911 for the new millennium, only this time, you get the other side of the story.  Crazy hostage stories, drug mule stories, and off the wall one-of-a-kind stories are featured with reenactments.  The best part:  people tell their own stories, and sometimes they’re still in a creepy foreign prison (but you don’t know they are in prison until the end of the episode.  It’s a SHOCKING surprise).  Out of control!

It’s a little like being fascinated by a train crashing into a car.  You know you shouldn’t watch it, but you can’t take your eyes off it.  I feel a little scummy for making some torturous story of the demise of someone into entertainment.  Although, lots of times they get locked up for a reason, and they did choose to be on tv, so am I that bad for wanting to watch?  They fought the law and the law won.

See for yourself (at your own risk):

No, the show isn’t exactly like poison, but it’s close.

We know that Bret Michaels is back on the road playing shows, but his health has not fully covered.

He is still suffering pain from the chemical meningitis, tires easily, and is struggling with his short-term memory. Doctors insist that he’s lucky to be alive and that full recovery could still take some time.

It was also reported today that Bret is officially in talks to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol after fans voted him as one of their top choices for the job.

Man…I gotta get me one of those live saving/career building bandanas.

It’s a motley predicament for Vince Neil.

Just a few days after telling the press that he had stopped drinking and hasn’t used drugs in 20 years, he was picked up late Sunday night for DUI. OK…maybe there’s some denial there, maybe he’s just a big liar head.

If you recall, it wasn’t his first arrest: He was drunk driving in a 1984 California accident that killed a fellow musician. The guy has some work to do.

Oddly though, he didn’t get the worst celebrity mugshot.

There have been some trainwrecks lately, so lets all have a good laugh at their expense.

Rated PG-13 – 1h32 -

It’s a typical Adam Sandler movie. There’s goofy one-liners and immature behavior but underneath it all, there’s a warm-fuzzy feeling to it. I’m not sure I should be glad or sad that I can relate to his films.

Grown Ups is about five childhood friends who reunite as adults following the death of their beloved basketball coach. They’ve all got jobs & families of their own, but once reunited, they retort to their childish ways together.

The plot is sketchy at best. This movie is much better described as five forty-somethings that like to play pranks on each other while ogling women. It feels at times that the cast is settling for mediocrity, which will only disappoint fans. Part of the problem is the mass of players onscreen including, but not limited to : Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Kevin Smith, Maria Bello and Salma Hayek.

Someone has to lead here, which means the other talent is left at the wayside.

I think on some level, all Adam Sandler movies try to include a small moral lesson about being good to each other. That little notion seems to allow me to enjoy his stupid humor. There is a good hearted nature, but it doesn’t make this a great comedy. Just an OK one.

Some of the “guys hanging out together” humor may be relatable, but the series of one liners gets old quickly. I feel like there was a good story to tell here, but there are too many completely phony and ridiculous storylines which water down the more solid scenes.

I laughed, but I don’t think this will go down as one of the better comedies of the year.

John Cusack turns 44 today and he very well may be the greatest actor of his generation.

Really, anyone who can ski down the K2 on one ski, must be given at least hero status.  (If you haven’t seen Cusack’s crowning achievement “Better Off Dead,” go rent it now.)  We know Cusack s a true man, because his character Lloyd Dobbler took the advice of his girlfriends in “Say Anything“  who said :

“The world is full of guys. Be a man. Don’t be a guy.”

He also gave us this sage advice on job hunting:

“I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.”

If every school counselor in the world would just teach that to their students, the world may be a better place.

Keep the hits coming John.  We love your often quiet and reserved, yet sometimes explosively snarky ways.

Mariah Carey is in the doghouse.

She can still hit those high notes, but she can’t seem to write a check out to a New York Vet whom she owes about $30,000.

The vet is suing for what they call “extraordinary services” last fall for Carey’s three Jack Russell terriers, named Cha-Cha, Dolomite and JJ (not sure which one is pictured with her.) The doggie doctor says the Grammy Award-winning singer paid only about $8,000 of the nearly $38,000 in charges.

What the heck can be so extraordinary for a dog that costs $38,000?

- Diamond encrusted leash for dogs & husband Nick Cannon?
- Doggie bags made of leather?
- Pooper scoopers of gold?
- Dog tongue enhancement surgery?
- Gold plated dog teeth?

This may be the movie I’ve been waiting for…well…since forever.

This Saturday the SyFy network will premiere an original creature feature called Mega Python vs Gatoroid.  The twist? It will feature a brawl scene between 80’s pop princesses Debbie Gibson and Tiffany.

Here’s the plot summary (as if it matters):

Gibson will play a fanatical animal-rights activist who frees illegally imported exotic snakes from pet stores, sending them into the Everglades, where they grow to mega sizes. Tiffany will play an overzealous park ranger who uses dangerous methods to save endangered alligators.

In the script, the pair duke it out at a party, then take matters outside into the swamp.

SET YOUR DVR’s…this is going to be epic.
